How I work
-
The coaching relationship is a partnership between two people, myself as the ‘Coach’ and yourself as the ‘Thinker’. Coaching consists of a series of confidential conversations during which the challenges and issues you bring are the main themes.
-
Your role in the relationship is to be fully present, be open to thinking more deeply about challenges and issues that you bring and to consider alternative perspectives that emerge through the coaching conversation.
-
The coaching I provide uses psychology based approaches and various tools and methodologies that provide a framework for your thinking. We will maintain a focus on the future and at times it may be necessary to explore the past in order to understand the present. It is not psychotherapy or counselling and does not aim to diagnose, treat or label psychological conditions. However, it is possible that coaching will impact you on a psychological level, i.e. how you respond to yourself and those around you.

I know what it is to work in a system that asks more than it gives back. I know the pressure of a relentless system, the loneliness of difficult decisions, the way the gap between the professional you want to be and the one the system lets you be changes over time. I know what it’s like to get to the end of a day and you have no energy left to even talk. I know the culture that says you cope, you carry on, you don’t talk about this.
I have spent over 30 years in healthcare as a nurse and leader. I understand your world from the inside, not the outside. You don’t need to explain the context, I get it.
-
I’ll notice things you might not, what you avoid, what keeps surfacing, what you do when something difficult comes up. I’ll name it and we’ll look at it together. We slow down and have a reflective conversation where we’re looking for the truth of what’s actually going on so we can begin to make changes.
-
We will have an initial meeting that is all about you and what your ambitions and challenges are. This meeting is free and provides us an opportunity to get to know one another and assess if working together would be productive. Following this we schedule sessions at a mutually convenient time. Sessions are online, an hour long and 3-4 weeks apart. Between sessions I may suggest some reading or an exercise to do to cement any new concepts or learning we discussed. I will maintain contact either via whatsapp or email as agreed between us.
